Laser Hair Removal has become an increasingly popular treatment among men and women. Spending hours on tireless amounts of shaving and waxing can become demotivating and having to then experience ingrown hairs and dealing with the repercussions of pigmentation and scarring from the ingrown hairs is even more frustrating!
What’s the perfect solution? Well in today’s date the term “perfect” is questionable, but laser hair removal is definitely a suitable and appropriate solution to the above!
Prior to investing in laser hair removal it is important to investigate which machines and settings shall be used. Hence, it is important to have a thorough consultation and patch test before you embark upon your laser hair removal journey. There are different machines with varying capabilities and not every clinic uses the same machine and laser to treat your skin.
Many clinics do not even treat clients with lasers for hair removal and instead opt for intense pulse light (IPL) which is a less efficient way of getting rid of unwanted hairs.
We have therefore compiled below a list of frequently asked questions to help with any queries:
What laser machine do you use?
At Panache and Marina, we use the Cynosure Elite+ . This machine hosts 755nm and 1064nm (Alexandrite and Nd:Yag technology) both wavelengths appropriately treat all types of skin. The flexibility of this machine in customising its settings to treat all skin types is one of the biggest advantages of using Cynosure for your laser hair removal treatment.
- Furthermore, you can easily switch between wavelengths for different treatments within one session.
- There is an Air cooling facility to relieve discomfort during the treatment.
- Longer pulse durations, which match the energy delivered in conjunction with thermal relaxation time.
Is the laser suitable for darker skin?
Yes, the laser we use is suitable for darker skin. Darker skin however requires more consideration and insight and therefore we use the Nd:Yag setting to treat darker skin types – this is the most safest treatment for darker skin types.
Is a patch test important?
We always recommend and carry out a patch test before conducting a laser treatment. As it is always important to determine your suitability of treatment.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent Hair Reduction?
Laser Hair Removal disrupts the hair follicles and therefore it is effective in impacting the reduction of your hair. Therefore having a good laser machine provides more effective results. However, the hair follicles still remain post-treatment, but consistent sessions of laser ensures that the hair follicles will not be able to grow hair.
Does it only work on dark hair?
Unfortunately laser does not work on grey or light hair. Dark hair is necessary as laser targets the pigment within the hair.
